Privacy Policy

ZERO is a debt ledger you keep by hand, made by edevzi. This page says plainly what the app stores, what leaves your phone, who else is involved, and how to make any of it go away.

The short version. Your debts are stored on your device and are never backed up to us. The one time any of them leaves the phone is while you are asking the coach a question — it is sent to answer that question and is not kept. If you choose to sign in, a small profile and your conversation with the coach are stored in a ZERO account so a new phone can restore them. Nothing is ever sold, and nothing is used for advertising. The app does count which screens get opened, with no identifier of any kind attached; What the app counts says exactly what that is.

Your ledger stays on your device

Every debt, payment, note, amount and date you enter is stored on your iPhone. We never back it up, never sync it, and never hold a copy — there is no ledger of yours on our servers to look at.

There is exactly one exception, and it only happens when you ask for it: asking the coach a question sends the figures needed to answer it. They travel with that one question and are not stored, by us or by anyone else. Nothing is sent unless you ask something.

If you delete the app, that data is gone. Use Export CSV in the app at any time, on any tier, to keep your own copy.

The account is optional

ZERO works fully without an account: you can add debts, record payments, use the plan, the charts and the reminders having never signed in.

Sign in with Apple creates a ZERO account. It exists for two things: carrying your setup to a new phone, and using Z AI, the in-app coach. When you sign in, we store:

• Your name, as you typed it or as Apple supplied it.
• An email address from Apple — usually one of Apple's private relay addresses. We never ask you for an email and never send you mail.
• An identifier from Apple, which is what the account is keyed by. It is specific to ZERO and identifies you to no one else.
• Your profile: an avatar if you choose one, time zone, locale, display currency, and — only if you fill them in — your monthly income, payday and the goal you wrote in your own words. Income and payday are financial information; they are optional, and the app works without them.
• What the coach has learned about you, and your conversation with it.

Your debts are not part of the account and are never uploaded, whether you are signed in or not.

Z AI, the coach

When you ask the coach a question, the minimum figures from your ledger needed to answer that one question are sent to ZERO's own server and passed to a language model. They are not retained by us and are not retained by the model provider; they are not used to train any model.

The coach is only available while signed in, and only sends anything while you are asking it something.

Who else is involved

• Apple — Sign in with Apple, and all purchases. Governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
• RevenueCat — validates purchases and tells the app whether Pro is active. It receives an anonymous identifier and receipt data. Their policy.
• Supabase — hosts the account database described above. Their policy.
• Vercel — hosts ZERO's server, which the coach's requests pass through. Their policy.
• Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service — the language model behind the coach. Their statement.

Each of these is bound to protect the data it handles to at least the standard set out here. We sell your data to no one, and we share it with no one else — no data brokers, no advertisers, no analytics companies.

What the app counts

ZERO counts screens, not people. Once in a while the app reports how many times each screen was opened and roughly how long it was on display, plus how many times the app was opened at all. That is the entire list.

What travels with it: nothing. No device identifier, no advertising identifier, no account, no IP-derived profile, no debt, no amount, no name. There is deliberately no key of any kind in the payload, which means two reports from the same phone cannot be joined to each other, let alone to you. What lands on our side is a daily tally per screen name, summed across everybody.

It exists so we can tell which parts of the app are worth keeping and which are being ignored. If you would rather not send it, turning off network access for ZERO in iOS Settings stops it, and the app keeps working: the ledger has never needed a connection.

What we do not do

No third-party analytics SDKs. No advertising SDKs. No trackers. No advertising identifier. No bank connections of any kind. Nothing in ZERO follows you across other apps or websites, nothing is sold or shared with data brokers, and no data is used for targeted advertising. The counting described above is our own, anonymous, and never leaves our own server.

Notifications

Due-date reminders are scheduled locally on your device by iOS. They do not pass through our server.

How long we keep it

Account data is kept for as long as the account exists. Delete the account and it is removed from our database. Coach requests are not stored at all, so there is nothing to retain.

Deleting your data

• Delete your account — in the app, from Profile › Z AI › Delete account. This erases your profile, everything the coach has learned, and your whole conversation from our server and from the phone. Your debts stay on the device, because they were never on the server.
• Erase everything — in the app, from Profile. This permanently deletes every debt on the device.
• Or write to us at kinogeruz@gmail.com and we will do it for you.

Your rights

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the GDPR gives you the right to access, correct, export, restrict, object to, and delete the personal data we hold, and to withdraw consent at any time. Our legal basis is your consent, given when you choose to sign in, and the performance of our agreement with you when you buy Pro.

If you are in California, the CCPA gives you the right to know what personal information we collect and to have it deleted, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA.

Exercise any of these by deleting your account in the app, or by writing to kinogeruz@gmail.com. We answer within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Where data is processed

Account data and coach requests are processed on servers that may be located outside your country, including in the United States. Transfers out of the EEA and UK rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

Children

ZERO is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, write to us and we will delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version is posted here with a new effective date, and material changes are called out in the app's release notes.
